Em diálogo com alguns autores da tradição filosófica e cultural portuguesa procuraremos antecipar alguns possíveis horizontes do futuro colectivo, verificando em que medida a nossa tradição filosófica e cultural pode propiciar novos paradigmas de pensamento e de existência, contrastantes com o paradigma da civilização tecnológica. A investigação fomentará o diálogo com outras tradições filosóficas e culturais, num esforço de internacionalização, não apenas limitado ao espaço lusófono.

RG “Roots and Horizons of Philosophy and Culture in Portugal” starts from an inquiry into the roots, or origins, of Philosophy and Culture in Portugal and reaches out to horizons that move away as one comes closer to them. Although the core of the RG’s research is philosophical, its foundations and goals are inter, and trans, disciplinary. The RG intends to investigate a field whose interstitial matter connects different parts, which have, so far, been ignored:

1. The dialogue between philosophical and cultural thought expressed in Portuguese and Philosophy expressed in other languages;

2. The reflection on the common roots and sources of Philosophy, Science, and Poetry;

3. The compatibility between the particular, or specific, and the universal and the resulting dialogue between branches of dichotomies in philosophical thought: endogenous and exogenous; physical and metaphysical; orthodox and heterodox.
